last weekend....before reality hits....

It's a lovely Saturday evening on Lake Burton and my summer is winding down.  Trent and I have come to his parent's lake home for our last weekend before school officially begins.  Although I felt a bit overwhelmed as I left home Friday morning, now that I am here, I feel relaxed, rested and ready to begin a new year.  It is very peaceful up here.  The air seems a little cooler (if you can get cooler air in August in Georgia), time seems to pass a little slower, and naps come bi-hourly.  Just the way to end a truly wonderful summer.

Reggie went swimming yesterday - he lives for swimming on Lake Burton.  Although, most would not call it "swimming," it is more like "wading."

Maycie went for a ride on an inner tube today and both pups went for a boat ride.

The devastation at Lake Burton is still evident from the tornado that came through last April.  Many homes are being rebuilt and those that are still sitting are a bit eerie.
Elaine and Ken always feed us well when we come to visit and this time was no different.  Porkchops, steaks and fresh vegetables were on the menu this weekend. Elaine also taught me how to make her cream corn.  My husband will be happy when I make that at home for him, so I am glad she shared her secrets.

Trent and I are heading to Aaron and Jenica's tomorrow afternoon for "an excuse to BBQ."  They are having people over for food and fun and we are both looking forward to seeing my parents, Aaron, Jenica and Kaydence. It has been a little while since we last got together and family time is always fantastic.  Kaydence is growing so fast, I can't see her often enough.
I will try to post some pictures of my new classroom in the next couple days.
Til next time,
Sarah
