how fast a year goes by

A year ago, this moment, I was the happiest girl on earth.  Trent proposed to me and I said YES!  It was, by far, the best decision of my life.  I never even really had to think all that hard about whether it was right - I just knew it was.  I knew that I was created for him and him for me.  It was the will of God that we spend the rest of our life together.

It's been five months since we said, I Do, and marriage is just what I had hoped for.  Trent and I love our life together.  We laugh...A LOT, we are each others best companions and life without Trent would not be life.  I love him for his heart and his dedication to me.  I've waited all my life for the life I live with Trent.

I decided I better post so it would be forever engrained on the internet - I think I am just a tad bit itchy to return to work.  Ahhh!  Ok, I said it.  I now give permission to anyone who hears me complain in the coming weeks to remind me of this moment.
I went to The School Box today and bought all my new things for my classroom. For the most part, things stay the same.  The stuff is just too expensive to buy new each year.  However, I usually buy borders each year and inspiring posters, etc.  I guess being back in the store and making the purchase got me in the mood.
I also really miss my kids.  Although they can be the snottiest little things, they really do make my job what it is.  I can count on my job to be different everyday because of the kids being different each day - especially middle schoolers...up, down, up, down, all around.  You never know what you'll get each morning.
Lastly, I am a routine person.  I like having a groove to my day.  This summer has not known what routine is.  Late wake-ups (10 AM max, people), early wake-ups (6 AM for Key West), healthy food, UNhealthy food, work outs, not-so-much work outs.  Bottom line, there has been no consistency to my days and I like consistency.  So, I am looking forward to a routine coming my way on August 8th.
Whew, I feel better.  I am glad I've said it.

Denver Life...

Thanks to Brock, Alicia and Brody, Trent and I had a wonderful time in Denver.  We returned home last night after being out west for 4 nights.  Trent and Brock had some brotherly time fishing together in Deckers while Auntie Sarah and Brody had a breakfast date out at Einstein bagels (Alicia had a meeting at work - someone's gotta do the dirty work!)

We also spent some time at the community pool!

On Friday, Trent and I were able to visit the store location of 7-11 that Brock and Alicia have franchised.  They have so many exciting endeavors in their future - we are truly happy for them!
On Saturday we witnessed the true beauty of Colorado! Brock and Alicia's friend Frank (who happens to own four 4-wheelers) took us up 13,500 feet to a gorgeous point in the state.  Trent did a great job driving and balancing our 4-wheeler.  Going up was way more scary than coming down.

Brody is growing up so fast.  He loves his train set and is ALL BOY!  He enjoyed letting everyone know when he saw an airplane or when we passed train tracks.  Trent and I had a birthday present sent to Brody while we were out there and it arrived.  A Home Depot Construction Set!  Although he didnt want anything to do with the tool belt, he loved the tools and bolts.  I think we had more fun with all the pieces than he did!  Can you tell?

Summer Fun!

Trent and I have been on the go since summer started and it is hard to believe it is coming to a screeching halt in just a little under two weeks.  We have enjoyed weekends with our parents, Trent turning 30, Sarah and Jared's wedding, Mom and Dad Alvarez 56th birthdays, a girls only beach trip and recently returned from a wonderful trip to Key West.  We were able to visit Casa Marina which was so much fun reminiscing on all our memories that were created just 5 months prior.  It was quite sweltering in Key West, so staying hydrated was key.  Trent really wanted to snorkel while we were there.  I was completely supportive....of him snorkeling, not me!  There is not an ounce of being within me that thinks swimming with fish sounds fun.  It's amazing what you'll do for someone you love - I went snorkeling.  Some fish came a little close for comfort but Trent helped calm my fear.
We leave tomorrow for Denver and are really excited to see the other Rhymers!  We are also celebrating Brody's SECOND birthday - what a big boy!
